BCWLE’s third Annual Conference and Awards Luncheon is coming up on April 19, 2024 at the Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre. Update: registration is now closed.
Speakers
Our keynote speaker, Retired Chief Kristen Ziman, served for 30 years at the Aurora Police Department in Illinois, blazing trails as the first female Lieutenant, first female Commander, and the first female Chief in that agency. Since retiring, she has continued to strive to change the culture of policing and promote leadership through numerous speaking engagements and authoring the book “Reimagining Blue: Thoughts on Life, Leadership and a New Way forward in Policing”. Kristen is an engaging speaker who will share what she has learned over the course of her 30-year career, tying in the psychology of positivity as it relates to law enforcement in her presentation, “Optimize with Optimism”.
Staff Sergeant Michel Ling, from the RCMP will discuss the 2022 Langley shooting spree that left three dead, two injured and resulted in a Lower Mainland-wide emergency alert.
Senior constables Terri-Lynn Clyde and Michele McKnight, of the VPD, will present concrete information, best practices and lessons learned for building or expanding a wellness unit and will provide some tools to help you build a Wellness Plan and a Wellness Team within your own department.
